waiting for the client to arrive...

I accompanied malificentmuse on a shoot yesterday, but as things go, the client was late....over an hour late. However I was lucky to have had the chance to capture some more relaxed available light images of the make up artist whilst we waited.

All of you know that I am not a people shooter, so any advice and tips are greatly appreciated.

#1 and #4 build a rather enigmatic mood about this person. You have nailed the focus in #4.

I would prefer a portrait version of #4 so that you can include a few more shapes (preferably curvy) to complement the eye.

I am not convinced about the 2# and 3# as the angle, light you have chosen has accentuated the nose somewhat.

So where are the photos from the shoot?

I want to know what she has in her hands in the first shot - with the urban backdrop it looks like she could be vulnerable or maybe even about to commit some sort of mischievious act.

Thanks Surenj, I quite liked the profile shot, but I guess that is a personal opinion, not sure if the colour or BW works better though.

Where are the photos from the shoot? I deleted them...I was more assisting and lending my gear to my mate...and the photos werent worth the time sorting esp since I get nothing out of them. These were nice enough for me to think I should keep and share. Maybe Alfred will share later on.

From memory it may have been nothing...or her Samsung compact camera.....but I do know what you mean by the vulnerable/mischievous act. I personally thought ballerina (but then you notice the jeans) when I reviewed the picture on my camera.

Not sure why you reckon you're not a person photographer because these are great.

The mono conversion for the first pic is great, lighting is perfect. It's very contemplative.

The last one is tops with just the eye in focus and in the light. It's very engaging! Personally, I prefer photos where you see the person's eyes as it tells a lot about the person

I'd like o see a square crop in the first. I don't think you need quite as much space at the top of this, and a lower field of view would have worked very nicely here.

And your B&W treatment is very effective in these.

Great shots Cameron. My only critique relates to 2 & 3 - I would like to see a little more space under her chin as it currently appears chopped off and not complimentary. I like the use of the light in the first. Well done.

The colour version rocks in my opinion, I also reckon a slightlu de-sat PP or even polaroid PP would work really well with this given the graf in the BG.

definitely better imo but colour It really engages the viewer and keeps the BG interesting.

And your opinion is the one that matters.

I prefer this version too, but unlike Gerry, I think the B&W treatment adds something to this image where I believe colour would change it into something that's different, and not as good.
