Aftermarket LensesI posted about a week ago regarding an ERR-01 message on my 40d.
Thnakyou to all who repsonded and gave some insight into the problem. It appears it is a problem with the lens connection, (which should be under warranty) and am using this as an excuse to possibly update to a new lens or two. I am wanting to know which aftermarket Lenses are preffered and if someone can shed some light on possible options within the aftermarket range. I am leaning towards the sigma range, but am also interested in the Tamron and or Tonika. I want to purchase a macro lens and a zoom lens up to around the 400mm range for shooting motorsport, which is where my interest in photography originated from. If anyone is using these or an equivilent please feel free to leave feedback with both pros and cons. Cheers Jase Guess What! ........I Have A Fever........And The Only Perscription........Is More Cowbell.
Re: Aftermarket LensesNot sure with the 400mm lens as I only use a 2x teleconverter on my 70-200 f2.8 from Sigma, however with the Macro the lens to beat is the Sigma 105mm f2.8.
This Macro lens is meant to be one of the best around and I've had a play and love it, it is next on my shopping list
Re: Aftermarket LensesHow about the Tamron 90mm Macro. Isn't that a primo lens?
Re: Aftermarket Lenses
A prime lens I think. Supposed to be very good though.
Re: Aftermarket LensesI would say the Sigma 105 is not the one to beat, but actually the Tamron 90....if you have a look at the comparison of these two lenses and the Canon 100 f/2.8 (and decipher the comparison with between the older and newer Tamron).

Re: Aftermarket LensesIn the third party macro lens space there's the Tamron 90.
Nothing else comes close g.
