Bird picsWent out for some BIF practice this weekend. A most frustrating exercise in all.
I couldn't get close enough to these to get a good detailed shot, so I went for composition instead.
Re: Bird picsThat first shot is a cracker. It's almost doesn't look real.
I don't know why, but in the second shot my eye keeps getting drawn to the OOF bird in the back. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

Re: Bird picsReally like the 1st - just a great pose with the wing movement and the white is exposed spot on and really pops against the background
Like the 2nd - love the symetry, reflections and color but the leading lines in the photo takes the eye R to L leaving you on the OOF bird. If I was going to print big I'd be inclined to cut the LH bird and move to the RH side . And you are quite correct BIF are challenging but youv'e done a great job DebT DebT

Re: Bird pics
I bet, but you have done excellently here imo.
looks like a harrier jet coming in to land...wings and stuff going each which way!
Although maybe cropping tighter on the two birds might help? All that blue is not rocking my world... gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Bird picsI like the first a lot! It really captures and freezes that gull....I think that OOF bird on the LHS has to go.

Re: Bird picsKevin, it is really challenging - small fast moving objects but you have pulled it off

Re: Bird picsI am with the majority here, love the first shot, a perspective on a gull you rarely see.
I find my eye wanders around the second and keeps landing on the OOF bird, would love to see this shot the other way with the back bird in focus. D90 | D50 | Tamron 17-50 2.8| AF-S 18-55 DX (and VR) | Sigma 70 - 300 APO DG | 50mm 1.8 | SB-600
Re: Bird picsSome good points on the second pic, so I found a similar shot that may be more appealing.
