do you pose with the subject/models you shoot

just cant help the urge. i want something for my facebook. is it too cheap? say you're shooting prominent figures or a celebrity. why does it seem like i breaking some ancient covenant.

I've never done it, bit then again I neither like being in photos, nor have shot many models (let alone anyone prominent or famous).

Is it a no-go to do so?? I don't know. It would depend on the willingness of the subject I would imagine

Bit of a strange question.

I find that I do my best work behind the lens, not in front of it.

Im yet to get the opportunity to pose with anyone famous. That would be tempting.

I may sometimes make images of guests that we have in the (radio) studio for interviews and the like.

My personal belief is GO FOR IT!

Who knows what kind of person you're shooting, and they will become in the latter, as in my belief would assist in your exposure to the public. I do it with whoever I shoot at the end of it, or when i do a "practice" shot to test the conditions

imo yes, are you just trying to satisfy your own needs and boasting rights? your watermark on the images not enough?

and plus, you ain't gonna look great next to a good quality model - if anything, he/she is gonna make you look down right fugly

I think is one of those great big grey 'it depends' moments.

Among the Model Mayhem type crowd I've seen plenty of models on the forums complaining about 'creepy' photographers who insist on getting a photo with them. Then again, I've seen a photographer with many images on his page with him and the models, all fun poses where clearly both people are having a laugh and its part of a positive atmosphere.

At the professional level, there are guys like Terry Richardson who cop a lot of flak for the pervy way he gets in photos with models and take shots that would be closer to porn that anything, right through to something like a recent blog post I saw from Chase Jarvis who, after shooting moby, jumped in the frame for a quick portrait with him.

This isn't a do or don't thing. It's about the way you go about doing it and the situation you are in at the time.
