A Guam WeddingA few months ago I was fortunate enough to fly to Guam to shoot a wedding and would just like to share the images.
Thanks go to Wendell for helping me out re: travelling with gear and customs. I ended up bringing along: 2 x 5ds gripped 50 1.4 80 1.2 16-35 2.8 24-70 2.8 1 Video light + battery pack 1 580ex (useless )
Re: A Guam WeddingWow what a great set!! This is a dream location for a wedding and you have captured the mood perfectly.
How did you process that sky in the #1? I note you are using continuous light as your 'flash'.... Is that why the 580ex was useless? You must have had a VAL holding your light...
Re: A Guam WeddingNice shots...
#1 what happened to the skies in this one??? C-Pol gone mad? I dont think I have ever seen the sky such a deep blue before, nice setting though. Do you have one where the bride and groom are a bit more prominent? #2 Light must have been tough! Do you think you can get a bit more definition in the brides dress? #3 Very nice, I love the reflections and the natural pose. The slight overexposure on her skin makes things seem a bit lacking in detail though. #4 A very nice concept, you have done a very good job here. However the blown out highlights of the window meld with that on the banister and her dress Cameron

Re: A Guam WeddingThese are gorgeous!
Not the most constructive critic, but it's all I got.
Re: A Guam WeddingAwesome shots
#1 Love the sense of scale and balance within the composition - not necessarily a fan of the processing but thats personal taste. #2 Again fantastic composition, great eye, and a nice balance if I was being picky, I'd like to see the bottom of the dress and also the top left corner seems to be discoloured ? #3 Great captured moment there, the processing seems to have created a strong vignette and halo around the couple which I'm not too keen on. #4 Gorgeous and techically a hard shot to pull off given the dynamic range in the shot.
Re: A Guam WeddingThanks for looking and for the critique guys.
surenj: I'm a natural light shooter when I can help it. The reason the 580ex flash was useless was I didn't use it whatsoever. So essentially it was just dead weight. My video light proved to be quite useful (again). As for the sky I really can't remember how I did that . I'm pretty sure I did layers and layer effects. Marvin: Thanks mate. Yah they are aim54x: 1: No I don't use any filters for any weddings due to the pace of the event. Regarding the shot, the chapel is really the main focus point. Its more of a 'story telling' shot. 2: Yah 12pm midday in Guam was tough. Typical cloud coverage then bright sun. Always had to re-meter. I can get more detail out of the dress however I run the risk of making the dress look grey than white. This one is a good compromise as it shows details of the dress 3: Chinese skin. When its perfect its almost like porcelain. Smooth and near-flawless 4. Good eye and yes I agree. dawsey: Thanks mate Alpha_7: 1: Processing is such a personal thing isnt it? People like or they don't 2: Re: top left being discolored, good eye. Might check into that 4: You know what, in weddings I try not to get too techincal esp in trying to capturing all the the dynamic range. I shoot because I know its going to look good. Techicals be damned!!
