Picture of the week 6 JulyThe image I've chosen for Picture of the Week this week spoke to me (POTW POTW) when I first saw it - original post HERE - and it's stuck with me since. It was taken by Matt. K and like a lot of his work is very much a different take on the scene most of us would have captured in the same locale. And for that I am in constant awe (I just wouldn't have "seen" this image). In many ways this should be an odd choice for me, but I have a visceral reaction to this that overrides the little pedant whispering in my brain ("it's blurry", "too soft", "what a messy background" ).
This was obviously a very tough spot for taking good shots (no control over the subject or the background), yet somehow Matt has delivered an image that works despite the challenges of the environment. I think that's a testament to his skills, his vision and his craft. Thanks for sharing this Matt. Peter

Re: Picture of the week 6 JulyCongratulations! It is a great choice.
I like the sensitive approach taken by the photographer in difficult settings when taking this series of pictures which portrait the importance of this significant religious ceremony.
