Whoa! That's not peanuts! As some of you know in 2007 I was a finalist in the Sydney Life photographic competition. My image along with 23 others was printed 3 x 4 metres and hung in Hyde Park for a few weeks by the Sydney Council for the benefit and delight of passers by. I recently received a phone call from an organiser of the event asking me if I would like the print as they decided to donate them all back to the artists. I said "Yes" and went in on the appointed day, quite late, to pick up the work. In discussion with an employee there I commented that there were still quite a few prints left on the floor and it appeared the the photographers did not want them back. He agreed and commented that it was a shame because the prints cost $3000.00 each! After recovering.... I thought about it...12 square meters at $200.00 per is $2400.00 plus heavy duty stock and waterproof and velcro pouch for the fibreglass rod. That would be about right. Good thing the exhibition has wealthy sponsors! I now have this huge print in my garage....I don't particularly like the image....so I might use it as a tarp. This print cost more than my camera.

Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!Matt, do you have any info on what they used for the enlargement of the digital file? Fractals or something?
Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!
Really? The lighting makes it look so much like it is indoors. How do they stop the floor from being ruined by rain, etc.? Edit: Oh. The whole thing is a mural, including the players and the floor, etc.
Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!Offer it for sale at the local basketball stadium ? or try the NBA as a promotional thing ?

Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!Shot with my D200, when I had it. Send it to Poon sounds good but it would cost $200 to get it there. I can't use it commercially so can only deal with it as a work of art. I used Photoshop to set file to 72 DPI and 400cm on the long side...from memory. Sent the file as a TIFF. Just goes to show what you can do with 10Mega Pixels. I may consider sending it back to stadium where it was shot if nothing else pops up. Thanks for the suggestions. PS It was actually shot indoors with the trompe l'iol in the background, although there is an outdoor court in close vicinity. The players are real. If they were not then I would be guilty of plagerism.

Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!
Thanks for clarifying. That's exactly what I thought it was - A real court with the background being a mural. Peter's comments made me think I had it wrong. I still like the idea of donating it to the centre.
Re: Whoa! That's not peanuts!Damn - don't tell anyone I was wrong - OK
