Clovelly Sunrise 31st July

Most of you know the drill now, Saturday morning usual time, if you have not been to a meet before, why not start with this one, relatively safe location, friendly bunch of people and you might even get some stunning images to boot, oh whats that you say? 'you still gotta get up at 5am'.. yeah fair call...

Will be low tide (5:14am) which means some good opportunties to get up close to the water.

Parking is either at the south side carpark (donation) or on teh street on the north side, either is fine at the stupid hour.

you can see some of the shots you can get here:

Are you sure? The northen end of the beach seems to have a bit of a 90 degree cliff going down. (looked slippery last time we were there)

After our last visit, I was thinking that this was a high tide location? :?:

slippery, yes! I am keen to get close to that channel, there is alot of that nice green weed on the rock shelf - also there will hopefully be opportunties for some nice reflections off water that is left by the high tide...

eg.

Sounds really good....but I am uncertain about this meet, I may/may not make it depending on how I feel. I have been fighting this cold since friday and have had a sore ankle since I rolled it last week.

On a positive note, ankle is feeling pretty good now...

Sounds reasonable Gerry. The tide was coming IN while we were there last time?? [Was that photo from then?]

Usual sneakers instead of booties I guess?

I was not overly impressed with the grip on mine. Do you think it will be good for hopping through those gaps etc??
Felt a little less confident when I slipped last time.

Booties dont seem to have all that much grip...I can see why you are less confident Surenj, so maybe it is a sneaker occaision for you...

:rotfl2:

That was a rotten day though. No real sunrise. Sunday had no clouds what so ever. I did pay a very late visit to Iva Rowe pool. Looks promising in highish tide... or even at dusk perhaps.

I think from now on, it's going to be a little more dusk friendly. The sunset is already 1716 and moving about a minute daily. In 3 weeks time, the sunrise would be 0615 and sunset would be 1740.... I can check out the sunsets in NC after work. I don't know good spots for Sydney sunsets in the Eastern burbs. It would be tricky due to traffic.
