Studio meetup & Gluepot

Postby darklightphotography on Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:55 am

Whilst gorging ourselves at Deb's, we decided on a couple of outings that actually involve photography.

First is a studio model shoot on Sunday 15th August at 1:30 pm. The venue is Henna Nights studio at 8/31 Charlotte St Smithfield. I'll have backdrops and lights available, and Barrie from House of Callahan will also be bringing his lighting gear so there will be plenty of opportunity to try things out. If you get lost, call me on 0409 289 213 for directions.

Second is a day at Birds Australia Gluepot Reserve. The plan is to leave Saturday 9th October early in the morning, shoot during the day, and for those that wish, stay overnight for more shooting on Sunday. I'll be taking a fridge, cooking gear and tents/air mattresses for those that want to stay.

GLuepot is about 2 1/2 hours from Gawler, and despite the rumours, is nowhere near Burra. Unless they have had lots of rain, which is rare, 2WD cars are fine to get there.

I will come to the Gluepot trip. I will probably bring a friend along too. Anyone is welcome to come and crash at my place in Renmark if you need to.

Am meeting up with MUA tonight to arrange Saturday's shoot, so will push for an AM shoot so I can come along in the afternoon as I'd love some more studio (especially lighting) experience :)

Gluepot sounds great - will definitely come along at least for the day, will work on the OH to try and let me stay the night for a weekend away!

OK So I've purchased a 1.4 TC for my Siggy 70-200 f2.8 to give me a bit longer reach without too much compromise.... hopefully that will help with some of the bird photography :) Would definitely love to try the 300 f4 though if that is still available Fozzie please?

I've managed to convince the MUA for a morning shoot on Sunday, she has to confirm with the model, but may be able to come along in the afternoon for the Studio shoot

Something has cropped up tonight that requires my attention on Sunday, so unfortunately I will be missing :(

Have fun and look forward to shots from the shoot.

It looks like a few will be coming along, so Avril has asked if you could all bring a plate.

Thanks all for organizing it, allowing me to photograph you and helping / assisting / training me in the ways of studio photography - I learnt so much, and had great fun at the same time :)

Great photos (as always) Kev :) Will go through mine tonight and find the best.

You guys definitely had better fun than I did on Sunday.

Glad to see that everyone enjoyed the experience.

Big V - thank you for the shot of the studio, surely looks very impressive.

Should the opportunity come up again I will move heaven and earth to get there.
