Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm...

Postby Remorhaz on Wed Aug 25, 2010 3:57 pm

A happy man today – this morning I succumbed to GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and purchased and picked up a new photographic toy (in North Sydney) – the Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens.

Oh boy....your going to enjoy that lens...its one of those (like the Tamron 90) that I have to make sure I dont buy...I have that focal length covered, but everytime I demo it I just want it more.....a bit like a certain EVIL made by a non-camera brand.

I must be doing something wrong, cos I semi-regreted getting mine. Perhaps because at the time I sold an old 80-200/2.8 one touch for it. It's sharp, and the VR works wonders - but I just feel the size sort of requires a tripod collar (it's so damn big and bulky when carried for extended periods), plus I find 70mm a bit too long at the short end.

It is at that :)

Yep - could be interesting although I'm not that keen to get any more DX only lenses - planning way ahead for full frame I guess (well in my oblivious fantasy world at least :) ).
