Bare Island Sunset - Dodging all the hoons

My attempt at capturing the sunset at Bare Island on Sunday.
Onyx was right about the types that frequent the area. Lots of fancy cars doing the circuit with doof doof music blaring out loud. Felt very square and old.

Ray, I really like #3 the most followed by #1.

#3 has great water movement, composition which takes the eye round and round as well as scale with the little figures.

#1 is classic and I love the dynamic nature of the water. The three humans are good for scale but look like they are trying to ruin your photo by being disorganised... (not to mention unfriendly! Did you talk to them?? I tried. ) And yes, I am sure Gerry will like that green...

Is your screen calibrated? These look way to warmified for my liking on my calibrated screen. You have lost the beautiful colors of the sky and combined it into single yellow.

The trick to getting sharp(ish) images with flickr and this site took me a while. Now I export using 780 (long edge), sharpening for screen (moderate) using Lightroom and post the link to the image that is 640 pixels. I haven't found a formula for posting anything larger that retains it's sharpness. IMHO, the loss of critical sharpness makes pic look like shite even if they are strong to begin with.

Yep screen is calibrated but I intentionally warmed them up to loose that bluish purplish hue that didnt overly appeal.
I will try your suggestion with the sizing. The issue re sharpness for me only seems to have arisen since Flickr changed their format and the way to link images from their site.

Ah now I realise why you kept telling me to warm up my pictures! You obviously prefer the warmer tones. In this particular scene though, I think the sun was casting a thin rim of red/orange on the clouds which may be lost if you warmify too much... I guess I prefer a combination of warm to cool in my pictures...

yeah you gotta get them under the 800px liit, I go for about 775px and it seems to fix the problem - a real pain in ass really.

I am a fan of the last image - I think it has the strongest composition, i think this because it has a decent amount of sky in the frame whereas the others seem to have just cropped off a fraction too much sky. Also that reflected light off the water works a teat, it does look a bit on the warm side, however each to his own and it is not something that would be a deal breaker for me.

yeah bro..your car don't cut it either, at least mine has a funky spoiler, even if it is a factory install
