Bronte - Sometimes the sun doesn't rise

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Bronte - Sometimes the sun doesn't rise

Especially if it's drizzling and about to pi$$ down....

A group of brave souls went out this morning to check out the Bronte pools anyways...

I took a total of 34 photos (including test shots etc). I could probably keep just one... I can't help but feel there were quite a few shots that I missed.

For your critique. PS: Gerrry can you see the green on this one?

This shot is stunnning! The gentle light and the brooding sky is great.
Well done, the early bird got the worm! Nice work. I think this would look great biiig!
I like how the rails help lead into the shot, nice leading lines...the loan swimmer in the pool helps give a perspective on the size of things and how 'small' man is compared to nature...there's a lot to like in this pic!

pfffttt.. ya call that green?!

that is one fine shot suren, compositionally, from that spot ya could have not done better - all the lines are intersecting the right bits!

With that cloud cover the possibilities with the long exposures and the pool water are endless - something you cannot get from days where the sun comes blasting up!

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I did like how it looked on the camera LCD. The ones without the swimmer was definitely not as strong!

I did have my green EL wire in the bag..... Maybe we'll use it during the lightpainting meet.... Infact I think we should wrap you up in it and make a living sculpture out of it....

Hmm.. the thought did cross my mind but I was too focused on getting the bleeding swimmers to keep still... Where is that ten stopper when you need it... Infact I did have a piece of welding glass (11-12 stops I think) in my bag. Guess what color cast it produces.... I need to make that DIY stopper out of it. Need some super glue.

I have had a re-look at some of the images and managed to salvage one more...did a wee bit more processing on this one....
