Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMMy macro lens turned up this week and since the weather here in VIC is absolutely terrible i thought i'd give it a test run on various things...
And something a bit different. I tried out the single image HDR Toning in CS5 on this one... Last edited by Wink on Sun Sep 05, 2010 3:39 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMThat last one is quite an image. I have looked at that lens for a number of years without taking the plunge and buying one.

Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMI brought the newer IS version. Also got a Manfrotto 454 sliding plate to go with it. I've found the plate is a very handy tool to have since the DOF is so tiny. I attached a QR plate to the 454 for quick change over, but i need to manufacture a space plate for the QR plate so i can position it better.
I can see why macro photography becomes an obsession for some people. I'm not sure my mental state will cope with moving onto living creatures. I tried image stacking in CS5 for a few shots. It was hit and miss for me. Sometimes the blend was spot on and other times it didn't work at all. It might be possible to manually edit it all, but working with 10 or more layers with their own layer mask piled on top of each other is far more than i'm capable of.
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMLooks like you will enjoy this lens a lot. I like the 2nd and 3rd images. The eye however is a bit overdone for me.
Ozi...this is the 100mm f/2.8L IS which has only been around since last year, but macros are fun!! i am still wondering if i should get something in the 90-105mm range as I already have a Micro Nikkor 60mm and a Shitma 180mm Cameron

Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMSaw this little critter while hanging out some washing. It's about half the size of your little finger nail...
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMNice one Adam. I would love see some IS in action. Were these handheld at 1/2s ?
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMGod no.
I had it on a tripod with my macro rail setup.
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USM
It is a nice lens. I had a play around with one last week at a friend's place and took a couple of snaps. I also took a handful of shots with the following lens: 85 F1.2 / 300 F2.8 / 14 F2.8 the latter two being brand spanking new! Alas, I had to give them back....... Oh well, back to reality. Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMAdam, thanks for taking the time to post this up.
You are really making that a$$ sing! Nice demonstration of the hybrid IS.. That lens is now below $1000 gray.... The non IS is $690!
Re: Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USMYeah, the same lens and filter I brought is $150 cheaper than when I brought mine at the start of August.
I've been looking at the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lately. It's around $2300 grey ATM. That's over $1k cheaper than retail stock here in Oz.
