Catching the whole beastI had been eyeing the sky for most of the afternoon and especially so as I was driving along the F3 around 6:00pm. Once I realised the sunset may be worth the effort, some foot to the pedal was required to make it 'just' in time to see this stunner.
I guess people would have wondered why someone would run like a headless chicken looking for a good angle when one could have just sat down on the bank of the lake to enjoy this one with a cold beer. [+ some insect repellant - they were trying to carry me off!] For your C&C...
Re: Catching the whole beastyep, 1st one for me too!! love the colors, and definately worth running around like a headless chook for!! shows your committed to getting the best shots!!

Re: Catching the whole beast#3 for me.
I love the foreground you've chosen and the PP.
Re: Catching the whole beast
thatI would have liked to see! I reckon the composition from the other thread 'catching the tail' with this sunset woul dhave been spot on! The first one leaves me wanting to see more foreground, this woul dbe easily fixed by a bit of croppage on the sky, basically go for symmetry about the horizon, that bit of grey up the top is not helping the image. The colours in teh first two are really nice, they look realistic and vibrant! The second image is nicely composed and the only suggestion I have is to crop to pano style, 10% off the top and bottom just to really lock the viewer in! The last image does not particularly appeal to me, that log needs to jump out a bit more, at the moment there is no strong subject point, i look to the sky and to the log.. it also needs a little bump in teh contrast department too! Great to see ya getting some colour in the skys up your way! and more importantly being able to capture them! gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Catching the whole beastSuren,
These are trully beautiful photos - love all of them, especially the last one. A potential speeding fine would be well justified Alex
Re: Catching the whole beastThanks Alex and Gerry.
I think it would have been overnight jail etc...
It was not possible due to people running amok on the pier and a boat parked on the left side.
Yep there has been quite a few rippers here. I think the rainy season has brought on some nice colors. I will have a go at the croppage suggestions.
Re: Catching the whole beastWow those colours are really powerful, very impressive photos
All three shots are excellent, but my favourite is #2 which shows off a pleasing range of colours with nice composition.
Re: Catching the whole beastStrike me pink...er red Suren, the 1st shot is unbelievable. Absolute simplicity, sublime colours. I feel relaxed just gazing at it.
Did you use a tripod? Exif details would be interesting. Ozi. President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Re: Catching the whole beastBloody great shots, love them all well worth the pedal to the metal, and having the boat there sets them off well done.
