$23,000 Klixus Photography Challenge

Postby mindahb on Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:55 pm

Hi All,

My name is Richard Block and I am launching a $23,000 Photography competition via my new website http://www.klixus.com starting on the 4th October 2010.

Gstark has generously given me permission to let you all know about the details of this competition on his forum :)

The purpose of this competition is to help community groups and charities get great photos from their events and help them raise money for their causes.

By helping these worthwhile causes you can win up to $13,000 in photography equipment vouchers.

Here’s how it works:

When you cover an event for a community group or charity and upload those photos to the Klixus website that album goes into the running to win the Best Album prize of a $5,000 voucher.

Then, if you continue to cover more events, you become eligible to win the Most Groups Helped prize of another $5,000 voucher.

There is also a weekly prize of a $250 voucher in the Best Weekly Photo Competition which will run for 12 weeks from the start of the challenge.

The Klixus Photography Challenge vouchers are redeemable at Quality Camera Sales Australia, one of Australia's leading online retailers of camera equipment (http://www.qualitycamera.com.au).

In the $23,000 Klixus Photography Challenge, the community groups and charities don’t miss out either! Every group you help can win $5,000 cash by selling the most number of photos through the Klixus website and/or another $5,000 by showing the best community spirit on the site.

It is important to note that the purpose of the Klixus website is to help community groups and charities raise money for their causes, which is why a minimum of 30% of the sales of any photos goes directly to the group. You also earn a commission of up to 55% on every photo sold.

We would love to see you become a part of this great competition so please visit my website at http://www.klixus.com or call me on 02 6253 1454 or 0417 285 490 if you have any questions.

Best wishes and good luck!

Hi Guys,

Just letting you know the first Best Weekly Photo Competition is now open!

You can see people's entries on our homepage http://www.klixus.com

The weekly prize is a $250 voucher that can be spent at http://www.qualitycamera.com.au

Remember, the photo can be from an event you've covered in the past, it needn't be a photo from an event covered during the competition period.

Good luck!

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Some people have asked whether Klixus can find events for them to cover. Well we’re doing just that! We have 3 events in the Canberra and NSW south coast area that need a photographer in the next few weeks.

The first is a Pony show in Mollymook on the 24th October (details will be on Klixus shortly). The second is a Cycling Challenge on Sunday 31st October in Canberra. And the third is a Fun Run in Canberra on the 6th November.

There will more events in different states added over the next few weeks. If you register as a photographer on Klixus you will be automatically notified about these events.

Remember that events you covered in the past are also eligible for entry into the $23,000 Klixus Challenge.

Good Luck!

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

Well we have our first winner of the Klixus Best Weekly Photo prize.

Congratulations to Judith Satrapa for her picture from Phoenix Players performance of Miss Saigon, which was fantastic. Check out our homepage (http://www.klixus.com) to see the winning entry and the entries for this week’s competition.

Judith will be receiving a $250 voucher that she can spend at http://www.qualitycamera.com.au.

Have you taken a better photo at an event before? Then enter it for your chance to win. Your album also goes into the running to win the $5,000 Best Album prize and the $5,000 Most Groups Helped prize.

So far the most number of groups a photographer has shot for is one. This means if you’ve helped 2 or more groups in the past and you load your photos up to the Klixus website you’ll be in the lead to win $5,000 in camera equipment vouchers!

Remember, you don’t need to be a pro-event photographer to cover community group events. You just need enthusiasm, a willingness to help the community and a passion for photography.

So if you’re taken photos at a previous event or will be taking photos at an upcoming event get them onto Klixus.

Remember the group you take shots for can also win $10,000 in cash!

Best of Luck!

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Well we’re had 2 more winners of the Klixus Best Weekly Photo Competition in the last couple of weeks. Congratulations to Paula McManus and Melita Caulfield! Their winning entries can be seen on our homepage http://www.klixus.com

With thousands of events requiring photographers around the country every week, there are dozens of opportunities for you to find new and interesting events to shoot and at the same time be financially rewarded for your work.

We have just posted a new article on how to find groups and approach them to get work. Check it out at: http://www.klixus.com/NeverRunOutofWorkwithKlixus.htm

For your chance to share in $13,000 worth of photography equipment vouchers, get your event photos onto Klixus. It’s easy! Just ask Melita who’s just bought a new camera lens with her $250 voucher for her winning photo.

We’re now almost a quarter of the way through the $23,000 Klixus Photography Challenge so don’t miss out on your chance to win these great prizes!

Cheers

Hi Guys!

Well, the Klixus Competition is into its fifth week and still going strong. Last week Paula McManus won the Best Weekly Photo Competition for the second time and scored herself another $250 photography equipment voucher.

Melita Caulfield also pulled ahead of the pack by shooting her second event and uploading the photos to the Klixus website. She’s now in the lead for the $5,000 voucher for the most groups helped!

In the coming weeks we will be making a big marketing push to get jobs onto the site that photographers can cover. So sign up to Klixus so you can automatically be notified when there is an event in your area that needs a photographer. Registration is free and there are no obligations.

And don’t forget to submit your photos so you can share in the $13,000 worth of photography equipment vouchers!

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Well we’re almost at the end of the Klixus $23,000 photography competition, only 3 weeks left to run.

Melita Caulfield and Ben Herman are in the lead to win the $5,000 prize for the most groups helped having shot 2 events each over the last 2 months. But remember, past events before the beginning of the competition are also eligible for entry so if you’re shot 2 or more events in the past, load them up for your chance to win the $5,000 prize!

The Best Weekly Photo Competition has been won over the last few weeks by; Paula McManus (her 3rd win!), Brett John (his 2nd win!), Ian Champ and Richard Marris. Congratulations to all the winners who get a $250 voucher to Quality Camera Sales Australia. There are 3 more chances to win a $250 voucher so don’t miss out!

Thanks to all those who have gotten involved to date. After the competition has run we will have lots of events for photographers to shoot all around Australia so check out the Klixus Marketplace from you profile page on Klixus.

Merry Christmas everyone and have a safe and happy holiday period! :D

Cheers

This is a great idea Richard.

We plan to do something to this effect this year. I will start a thread to brainstorm the idea when I get the chance.
