NYE lots of walking and waitingBut it was worth it.
For the 9pm I was out at Prymont where you can avoid the crowds and get a decent chance of seeing two different sets of fireworks Then I headed down to Walsh Bay for the Midnight show....crowds galore and a partial view on the bridge. Using the 10-17 Fish in hope of getting in two sets of fireworks didnt quite work After the explosions....the smoke in the air....but the coat hanger survived another day Sorry I couldnt decide which two to leave out *ducks*. I should also note that this is the first time I have ever actually brought out a tripod to shoot the fireworks with..... Cameron

Re: NYE lots of walking and waitingVery nice set! I prefer the first 2 and the last one
for no particular reason. I just do.
Re: NYE lots of walking and waitingNice stuff Cameron.
I prefer the first 2 as well Regards Colin

Re: NYE lots of walking and waitingI hear ya about the waiting, man I only had two bottles of beer on me (couldnt carry anymore) and there was not alcohol for sale at my venue, makes for a long wait
anyway enough whinging...onto teh images I like #2, with a little cropping I reckon it would be very nice, even with that flag pole! The fishy shots are actually growing on me, the first two are nice and crisp which I like, my only gripe is the fishy-ness I would like to see how on looks de-fished. Each of the fishy shots brings something different which I also like... gerry's photography journey

Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
#1 is nice but has that distracting shadow bang in the middle.
Wow you must have very steady hands I am partial to the fishy images but can't get past those white poles in the foreground. In that regard #5 does well to draw the attention away from the pole to the RHS of the image.
Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
Thanks guys
I am willing to say that I am just silly...in 2008/09 I used a D80 + 18-200VR at higher ISO's, in 2009/10 I was using my D60+50mm 1.8+ Fisheye and a Joby (which was dead - borrowed from shop display) so I ended up hand holding at 1.8 at higher ISO's again....
It was a shame that I couldnt find a position that would allow to get rid of those Pylons....but I was just happy to make do with what I had, next time I guess I will have to carry some SEMTEX to carry out some pylon removal....
Thanks Gerry, I couldnt decide so I sneaked in a few extra images...I will have a look at de-fishing these....any tips? Cameron

Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
The only thing I have used to de-fish was CNX2, I used this a couple of times when I borrowed your 10-17, from memory it worked ok. heres a couple that I did that might help... gerry's photography journey

Re: NYE lots of walking and waitingis this just the "adjust>correct>distortion control" option? I had a play and found that i had to do it 2x to get it right....is there another tool that i have missed?

Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
yep, thats the tool I used and yes I have in one shot applied it twice! There is also a program that Peter used I remember with quite some success, however it slips my ailing mind atm. gerry's photography journey

Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
Me too - great work Cameron. Inspired use of the fisheye. For partial defishing I use DxO Optics Pro. Lightroom and CS% both do it as well for some lenses (eg it will for my 16mm Nikkor) Peter

Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
Thanks Peter, to me your the fisheye master, so the fisheye usage is only really paying homage to your brillant use of fisheyes in obscure places. Cameron

or a ta$er to remove people.
Re: NYE lots of walking and waitingAlso Cameron, Did you just reveal you COD addiction?
Re: NYE lots of walking and waiting
I think the more permanent removal of people with a Deagle would be better!
Actually I have a CS addiction, C-4 would have been to obvious though Cameron
