We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Hi All, After a few years now of mainly lurking here, I finally have the courage to seek critique on my most recent photographic adventures. I had the luck of having a few days in New York on the way home from a conference in Orlando (any excuse to drop in to see some good friends in Manhattan!) and finally got to tick off a few of my photographic goals I still had for the city (the more touristy ones admittedly). I love this city, and every time I visit, I have a very different experience. This trip was without the family, so my days were my own, and I had the freedom to spend as much or as little time doing my thing. Despite it being subzero when I was there, I love nothing more than just wandering around taking shots. 1. Hungry  2. Bryant Park is somewhere down there - view north from ESB  3. Brooklyn Bridge  4. Thanks Wendell, they sure are fast little buggers! The people standing next to me were feeding them nuts - I had his attention for about 2 seconds before he took off again. This one was just naturally curious ,or starving, and wanted to try out my tasty 14-24! I took shot number 1 just before this one, I thought he was going to jump on me.  I only had four days there, so just ran around grabbing xmas presents and walking everywhere with the D300 + either the 14-24 or 24-70 attached, snapping what I fancied. Specifically went shooting though at Brooklyn Bridge, ESB at night, Rockefeller observation deck during day, Union Square, Bryant Park, and up and down fifth avenue on dusk/evening. Your shot has a classic beauty about it rather than my crass touristiness shot... Chris

Wendell - I managed to not visit B+H this trip, blew over 5k there last trip in 2009.
Stubbsy - I struggled to pick one of the night shots - there were lots of nice ones from the set, it is hard to take a bad shot up there (once you master the exposure, handholding and bracing against the mesh fence, and the bitter cold!). I have never been one to shoot raw much at all, but I did on this night because I didn't want to risk not getting the shots I wanted.

I like this shot but am left with a need for a wider view, pano maybe - great looking lights though.

Pano would have been great to do, but tricky with the fencing that was there, I do have a 14mm shot of that area though...  Chris

those 2 night shots are stunners. dont sell yourself short on the squirrel shot either, a difficult shot and subject executed brilliantly.
