Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Sorry hope its ok, i've posted 4 images. Please CC more then welcome, actually I'd love it so i can improve for next set I do. Here is my parents old 1930 Essex. Gorgeous lovely vehicle all in original condition. I shot this in the evening a while back in the bushland around my parents property.   Last night I went out after sun had completely set at atound 9:30pm / 10pm ish and had my first attempt of Light painting of a vehicle. (ve ss wagon) i've picked up on a few things i'd like to improve on but i'm curious to know if i'm being too critical on my images or if its actually stuff i need to improve on, so please CC these as I really want to get out and do it again, My husband says (jokingly) that I should contact the holden dealership and request payment for advertising them! lol I wish!  I used to get these shots, my SB800 and softbox, and a led torch. Camera was 30sec f/16 @ 32mm ISO800 (for the full body shot)  Camera was at 30sec f/16 @31mm ISO 500 (for front shot) 2 x Fuji xt1,vg-xt1 grip, Fujinon xf 18-55mm 2.8-4, Fujinon xf 14mm, Fujinon 56mm 1.2.

I'd like to see all of the car in #2. Do you have a CPL filter? That would help reduce or completely remove the reflection of the branches in the windscreen, which are a bit distracting. Is there a bit of PS work helping those headlights? #3 is nice. Needs a little more light around the front and rear corners, and maybe a little more around the roof line. #4 is nicely evenly lit.

Adam - no filter currently used to have one on my old olympus but too small for my current lens, so yeah....in regards to the PS the lights, no none done at all in all honesty the original is pretty much as is except color and i flattened it a little, and a nudge sharper for web. The Colour version didn't look any good due to the lights discoloring the actual paint, it looks better in b & w IMO, i can post the colour version if you like. I totally agree about the reflections in the windscreens! I totally agree about the 3rd needing more light at the front and rear, it was one of those things I noticed when I uploaded to the computer, but the humidity was shocking last night so an hour seemed like 3 hrs last night so I think i may have rushed it a tad! plus the mosquitos were trying to fly away with me! 2 x Fuji xt1,vg-xt1 grip, Fujinon xf 18-55mm 2.8-4, Fujinon xf 14mm, Fujinon 56mm 1.2.

Adam, here's the color version as I hope you can tell i didn't do much to it other then changing to black and white..... even the lightpainting shot i did the other night with its lights on came up the same -don't ask me how i get them like it, i think the lights are naturally like it maybe?  2 x Fuji xt1,vg-xt1 grip, Fujinon xf 18-55mm 2.8-4, Fujinon xf 14mm, Fujinon 56mm 1.2.

looking at the exif, the aperture is pretty small, from memory using a large f number often creates the 'star' effect with lights. bigsarg7 wrote: here's the color version as I hope you can tell i didn't do much to it other then changing to black and white..
I like the colour version much better, the composition feels a bit tight so going a bit wider may have helped - plus those reds should never be hidden
