Pre-Coffee SunriseI wandered on up to Curl Curl this morning for a pre coffee sunrise session, in a nutshell - i just about missed the whole thing 'cause I was driving like a grandma and then nearly broke my neck cause I was wearing thongs - although there were some equally crazy photographers there too .
Nonetheless it would have to be one of the better sunrises in terms of the colour. Critique more than welcome - good bad or ugly Its actually quite a nice little pool there. walkway to heaven or hell? yep, I am a green moss/weed fanatic gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseWow! if you produced these when you missed it then i can't wait to see when you are there for it =)
Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseThe 2nd is strongest - the first image suffers from the railing. I personally don't think the railing is as interesting as the actual sunrise and is too distracting.

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseI kinda see what you were thinking with the railing in the first but personally I think it kills the shot - you didn't take the angle grinder with you?
The sky in the second is fantastic - colours are great - personally I wish the water was glassy still on the left and I reckon you might be able to crop the right inch or so. D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Pre-Coffee Sunrise...and he took #3 from this location...no, not the guy standing on the rock shelf ...Gerrys the one on top of the rock...just as you would expect ...got up there with his thongs on whats more
Re: Pre-Coffee Sunrise
Yeah I hear ya's, I could not get back far enough to get the whole thing in or maybe even minimise the size of the railing with respect to the scene..next time!
lol, i could just be a feature of the rock in that shot - nice one there Ray, you nailed me, I am gonna have to be a bit more savvy next time with you waving your camera around. gerry's photography journey

Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseOK the first two are wow for me.
I like the lines in the first, for some reason they interest me. They are the main feature , not the sunrise, they are interesting enough to stand on their own I think. The last two jus do not grab me though. Maybe it is the company they are in. Regards Colin

Re: Pre-Coffee Sunrise#2 is a pearler mate. That colour is just awesome.
#1 i like the railing but i agree that where its positioned is a littl roo distracting. Maybe if you were higher up looking down more at the scene it woukd be less obtrusive. EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3
Re: Pre-Coffee Sunrise
lol, you know me, I love my green moss shots!
thats a good point Colin
yeah good idea, I have gotten into the habit of always going lower, in this case I could have got a couple of extra feet higher - food for thought for next time definitely going back here soon - so many compositions.. gerry's photography journey

Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseGerry
I like the complexity of the composition in the first image. Most photographers try to simplify in their construction but that can become clichéd. Still can't sleep eh? Regards

Re: Pre-Coffee SunriseSome great shots, very well done. #4 is for me.
But very nice set. Nikons.

Re: Pre-Coffee Sunrise
yeah but the problem with hindsight is that you look back and go 'shoulda done this' or 'shoulda moved over there' Sleep wise, man I can sleep, I am averaging 5 hours a night this week - crazy times. and I will probably go out on Sunday, the only day I could sleep in!
