Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011There was no sunrise this morning....just a sun that has crept into the sky under the cover of a thick blanket of cloud, but this didnt stop us from making the most of the early morning.
I was using my S5 Pro so I have had a bit of a tough time with the processing (very foreign workflow as CNX2 isnt RAF friendly). First shot of the day (as an afterthought maybe I should have kept the WB in AUTO) I love long exposures...here is the straight out of camera Damn horizon! more long exposure goodness I couldnt resist an action shot Despite all my care with this camera it does need a sensor clean (adds to the TO DO list) Cameron

Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011Composition wise, I prefer #1 best. It has a nice yellow, blue combination what is quite appealing. You might even want to consider a further pano crop.
#2, #3 and #4 seem a little under exposed. Do you think there is some color casting from your filters?
Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011
For some reason the Fuji picks up this colour casting whereas the Nikon doesnt seem to as much. With #2, #3 and #4 they are a bit dim on 2nd viewing....I was going for a gloomy feel though (a bit like today) Cameron

Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011I like the towards Tungsten WB look of #2 although it looks too dark for me. I'm also doing a low Kelvin look image in my set as well.
#1 is probably my pick as well and agree with Suren - the middle three at least look too dark for me. D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011I think the first looks the go for this set Cameron.

Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011#1 and #5 look the best to me Cam.
Others could do with a bit more light
Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011
thats the spirit I like the first and last images, both of which would lend themselves to be cropped to pano!
lol, yeah I hear ya there, i had a monster loogie on my sensor.. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011
I guess we can expect you at the next sunrise meet Cameron?
Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011
heres what I reckon... I have also tweaked a few things, it takes some work to get the WB correct and to minimise the pool lighting, but I think the results are worth the effort. gerry's photography journey

Re: Non-Sunrise, Maroubra 13 Feb 2011I prefer Gerry's edit here. There is more 'pop'. PS: Cameron your pictures are looking soft due to forum resizing.
