Sunrise at Malua BayWe didn't have much of a sunrise opportunity, but these are what I could grab. Honest, brutal C&C appreciated.
Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Sunrise at Malua Bay#2 really grabs me. The composition is nice here and leads you to the image. The purple cast from your filter is a bit of a concern though. Although it's not a huge issue...
Re: Sunrise at Malua BayNumber two rules here. Better composition and light
and leads the eyes to the horizon. By contrast, the first one has the lovely light and colours in the sky, but there is not enough details to see elsewhere. Could you bring more detail into the foreground? The problem is that it is halfway to being a silhouette. Perhaps a few minutes later and a touch more light...
Re: Sunrise at Malua Bay#2 for me as well - although I kind of like the light lavender feel. I'm thinking however that you might be able to crop of the bottom inch or so (so that diagonal wash comes right from the corner).

Re: Sunrise at Malua Bay
composition on #2 is quite good and has alot of potential, however the long shutter does not necessarily enhance the image - it may if it were correctly exposed tho. This image looks like it is one of a 3 bracket shot (the shandow exposed one). The first one, I would have probably ditched it and chalked it up as experience. It is missing a primary subject point and a method to draw the viewer into the picture and thats just the composition side, maybe more foreground and less sky? hth gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Sunrise at Malua Bay
Thanks Gerry - the first was actually HDRed, but I don't think I did it justice. Agree with your comments on the second - I wanted the very long shutter speed look, but in this case, it didn't complement the composition. In this case, I think having more presence of the water flow would have been much better. But, whilst I am almost always up at sparrow's, I don't get enough chance to take advantage of nature's splendour as I would like. Regards, Patrick

Re: Sunrise at Malua Bayhmm Perhaps you can still salvage a misty, surreal mood from this image?
Re: Sunrise at Malua BaySorry Surenj nice try but no. I prefer the original posting.
It's too cold...nightmarish even!
Re: Sunrise at Malua Bay
I like the monochrome idea but think that one doesn't quite work. I will have a muck around and see. Regards, Patrick
