This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Nice shot Trevor.

Any chance of bumping up the highlights? The shadows look good but it seems to be a bit lacking in contrast.

Thanks - I think that you have made a valid point.

I did the B&W conversion in SilverFX, so I revisited it and played with the algorithm a tad.

Way better

Was the patch in the clouds blown in camera? Would be great to get more details there if possible

Looking good there!

I would try to bring back a bit of detail in that cloud patch...in the 2nd rework you seem to have lost some detail

Great title to the photo. I do like the revised version better. I'm trying to think, where is Lake Wanaka? After 16 trips to NZ, you'd think I would remember! I suppose it's age.....

Firstly, thanks to all who have commented - I think I'm starting to get somewhere after taking the suggestions on board.

Here is the colour original.

I thought that it was fairly bland, and started doing B&W conversions, I thought that the image gained much more power. Here is the third iteration of the B&W, and it looks a lot better. Click to see larger. Ozi, Wanaka is in pinot country, Central Otago - about an hour's drive north-east of Queenstown.

Agree...the third iteration is by far the best.

Some very fine pinot from that area, and somewhere around the lake is Rippon which is building an awesome music facility as well as winery.

We toured wineries and there are some special places and wines. Rippon was closed because of the construction that you mentioned. It overlooks the lake, and it is going to be a superb venue when completed.
