Wow, just logged on to the forum and saw this thread. I don't typically read the forum during the day at work so didn't get to see this thread. Too many stickybeaks! By the time I get home from work I have other things so don't always respond on a daily basis.
I'm not sure why there aren't as many female members. Maybe it is as Greg (thanks for the compliment Greg) says that maybe guys are more likely to enjoy the equipment side of photography. However I have to admit to being a gadget freak. Maybe as Stormygirl says it's because of other priorities. Whatever the case....I don't think it matters too much and I think the forum is doing great! Nicole

Yeah I'm a gadget freak too! I also have another female friend who is. We love shopping together!!!
I really think it is because we women have many other things on our plates - I personally work 4 days a week, have 2 young children, play sport 3 nights a week and coach 2 other nights and one weekend day. Most of my friends are in the same position and haven't got time to take up new hobbies. I think the guys make time for their major hobbies and they don't tend to suffer from that "mother guilt" that me and most of my friends have (I should be spending quality time with my children instead of being out here taking pictures!). That being said, I get paid out and called the "papparazzi" whenever I take out my camera around my friends! They think I have penis envy with my long lens! I don't personally know any other girls who are into photography but I have heaps of male friends who I go out and take pictures with. And yes, I feel guilty constantly! PLUS, most of my friends wouldn't know the front end of a computer from a back end to be able to log onto a forum and post!!
what the hell has marcus started here? has everyone come out of the closet? is marcus gay? and a myriad of questions. or is it that he is a metrosexual? more will be revealed on this thread.
shoot it real.
look! and see. Shoot and feel
Does anybody care? From my perspective the only thing that matters is the people here are all a great bunch, male or female etc etc Peter

My thoughts exactly! All I know is that I had no qualms about posting an a predominately male forum, I love taking photos, and I love my D70 and I have come to realise that all the members here make for a great bunch of people! ....and there is nothing like a little humour to brighten ones day!
Then what the hell was the point of your original statement, Jethro? Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

A quick thanks to all the ladies who spoke up....great to hear from you!
I hope you can all manage to juggle kids, housework and looking after some bloke (probably could have been included with the "kids") and get more time to take some pics. After hearing from you all, I guess the term "it's a mans world" is still a relevant term in 2005. Although I must say that most of the mens comments on this post have shown that they are a pretty fair, non-sexist bunch of guys. I know nutzinc
Yes I did, and with international womans day and all, I guess it was unintended good timing for the topic. I know nutzinc
Hi Guys and Gals,
Just to put the record straight. I think the ladies on this forum, in fact all ladies are wonderful. My direct supervisor is a lady, and I adore her for fairness, intelligence, ability to think problems through. She also consults a lot with me in many issues. My mother, God rest her soul, was a lady, and the last time I looked I believe my wife is also female by gender. (been a while though.) I personally believe ladies have so many wonderful attributes, just look look at some of the extremely high positions they hold in the world, perhaps they don't hold enough. Anyway, I know it looks like a dog running with its tail between its legs, but I thought I would set the record straight from my point of view. Thank goodness for all the ladies in our lives. Nige
