Another First for dslrusers

Postby phillipb on Fri Apr 01, 2011 11:28 am

Yep, this is the first time since this site started that the Starks and mods haven't tried to con us with an April fools joke. :( So if you've seen some good photo related April fools jokes elsewhere, share them with us in this thread.

Actually, that's nothing. I always enjoy looking at the catalogues that the airlines provide on trans-Pacific flights.

Sadly, these are real products ...

Canine Treadmill

Canine Shower Stall

Canine Life Jacket

And let's not forget the Fish Agility Training Set. I'm sure that dviv will be ordering a few of these.

Years ago, in the SMH, there was a full page add by BMW adivising of fake BMWs being sold. You could tell the fake cars because the propellor logo had the blue section in the top right quadrant. If you had a fake, you could ring a number...

...the real logo has the blue section in the top right.

We played a great APFD joke on a colleague.
For those of you that don't know I'm an Intensive Care Nurse.

So, me and another colleague conjoured this one up, it involved a sterile urine specimen bottle, some 'V' (energy drink), which just looks EXACTLY the same colour as urine, and an unsuspecting new staff member...here's the scenario:

Geoff strolls over to the new staff member with said 'sample' in a bottle. (it's the V energy drink, NOT urine).

Geoff to new staff member: "Hmm, imagine being the poor sod who has to actually put all this stuff under a microscope and analyse it?'.

New staff member: "Yeah that'd be gross".

Other staff member walks in on the unsuspecting new staff member/scene and says to me: "What are you up to?".

Geoff: "Just about to send this off to pathology" (pointing to said sample).

Other staff member to me: "I'll give you $100 if you drink it"

Geoff: "No way! I'd think about it for $1000".

Other staff member to me: "Nope - $500!"

With that, I said: "heck yeah"..took the lid off the 'sample' and downed the 'urine'! Hahahahaha.

The look on the new staff member's face and groan was pricelesss! I've not laughed so hard at work for a long time!

Didn't this fire up the locals..... almost as good as years ago in Brissy when Pink Bins were going to sponsor the Broncos in Brisbane, and the jerseys would change from Maroon to Pink..... the phonecalls to Triple M on that were classic.....

Circular Head to ban the barbie
01 Apr, 2011 11:27 AM

CIRCULAR HEAD is hoping to become the first municipality in Australia to ban the barbecue.

In a controversial move, the council is expected to legislate to ban Australia's most favourite pastime and will start by demolishing all barbecue facilities in public parks in the Circular Head region.

The council yesterday revealed the plan to The Advocate which is designed to coincide with the region's promotion of healthier eating and lifestyles within its community.

The council then intends to legislate to ban the use of barbecues in private households.

''We realise there will be a few snags to overcome, but we recognise the importance of banning the barbie for our community,'' CH general manager Greg Winton said yesterday.

"It's certainly a high-steaks game, but it's too important not to get right.

''There's no doubt it will be a hot issue.''

It is believed the wide-ranging move could even affect the toasting of marshmallows at campfires and the boiling of billy tea.

Mayor Daryl Quilliam said council had already workshopped the proposal and all that was left was a ''rubber stamp'' at next month's council meeting.

''Our sauces indicate this may not be a popular move,'' Mayor Quilliam said.

''However, in undertaking our report into the matter, we discovered a number of added benefits to banning barbecues.

''For example, the banning of wood-fuelled barbies will allow us to reduce the region's carbon footprint and it will certainly reduce the number of neighbourhood disputes sparked by the smell of sizzling sausages wafting across surrounding properties.''

Mayor Quilliam said once this ban was in place the council would then look at lifting the legal drinking age for the region to 35.

Happy April Fool's Day.
