D70 Remote - Where to buy?Hi all....does anyone know where i can buy a remote for the d70?...I have looked everywhere and they are no where to be found....either sold out or on back order.....
Cheers Murray
Hi MCM,
Jaycar have a keyring universal remote wich can be coded to trigger the D70. Do a search on this forum and you will find the details. Cheers CD
Yeah, they're hard to get items. The ML-L3 remote is shared with several high end Coolpix cameras. There's a Jaycar alternative you might wanna look into. It's a programmable keychain one, goes for about $20 or so.
PM me! Just for you, Greatly appreciated what have you done last night on 2Gb for this community!

I realize that you're an Aussie, MooCow, but I bought mine from Adorama in New York and got it immediately. I've read that others in your country also buy from them sometimes.
I bought the ML-L3 because I thought it was kind of neat and sold for only US$18. So why not get one?! Once I got it I found it to be an invaluable tool to have around. Everyone should have one to prevent camera shake, self photos, etc. I've had one problem with it however. Sometimes it stops working and I have to slide the battery out and back it. Then, everything's fine again. Has that happened to anyone else? Maybe it's just the Los Angeles smog. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
Socal,
You're there and enjoyed the shipping cost from B&H or other sellersn nearly free or nothing cost. If the Aussie wants to order a remote at US$18.00 then they have to fork out another US$25.00 for shipping & Handling = US$43.00 = AU$60.00. So, it's not worht it! unless you order from B&H with more stuff and save shipping cost. Birddog114

You sure it's not the remote sensor on the camera?

I bought one of the cheap univeral remotes on eBay like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43456&item=7503216229&rd=1 I think I got it for $9. Anyways, once I got it programmed (which took about 5 minutes of stepping through codes), it has worked great and seems to have pretty good range.
This is the thread
http://forum.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=267 which has all relevant details of the Jaycar remote. It was on special for $9 at the time, but I think it is usually $18 or $20. Mine has been working very satisfactorily. Greg - - - - D200 etc

I did realize this, BirdDog. I was thinking about that. Just forgot to say it! If he is also buying something else of value at the same time, or can go in with another person it might make the shipping charges worthwhile and then it's a whole different ballgame. However your point is well taken & excellent as they usually are! Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
Leon, Have you tried it in Bulb mode yet? Can you hold the shutter open until you press the button again, or do you have to keep the remote button depressed??? I haven't tried it yet... Cheers, John

Jaycar Universal Remote is currently $20. ML-L1 and ML-L3 are roughly about $32 from Vanbar but are on backorder for about 2-4weeks. Tried to purchase today a few things from Vanbar. ML-L3, BR-2 and BR-3A with a total shipment time of 8weeks, which I cancelled after finding out that. Probably best to get from overseas. I also looked for a PocketPC version of a shutter release but to no avail. All the ones that I tried at Xmas overseas didn't work. Be good if there were some resource websites with C/C++/C#/VB code on how to establish and IRDA connection to the D70.

I have been using my Palm (actually Sony Clie) with the remote feature. Works really well.
And it is FREE! Here is the link http://www.natemc.com/nikontrigger.php Mal
I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.
OT, I had the same prob. Now going for a real Macro lens. I suggest you either order from the US ($100 AUD inc shipping for both BR-2A and BR-3) or go a real macro lens. - Nick

Buy the ML-L1. That's what I use. Several advantages:
- Built like car key remote / keyfob. Sturdier than ML-L3. - Has a hole in one corner, to loop a neckstrap. - Made in Japan, as opposed to ML-L3 made in China.
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?A very old thread.... which points to another thread which no longer appears to be there.
Does anyone happen to have the codes required to make the old Jaycar Universal Remote work with the D70 (which should also work with the D7000)? I have my old remote but the batteries died and it reset itself. Please post the codes if you have them.
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy? You're in luck Andrew, well sort of.
I have the instruction sheet that came with the Jacar remote. it has all the codes but I have no idea which ones I used at the time. If someone remembers would be good otherwise you have to try all 500 of them. __________

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?If only I could remember what the device was that we had to use.

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?*** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?Excellent, Leon. Now, I just need Phillip to look i his manual which buttons on the remote go with which numbers. I have CH+, CH-, VOL+ and VOL-.
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?
Really? I'm not sure buying something else is less hassle than using what I already have - and something that worked fine with my D70 (once it was coded).
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?
Hi Andrew. You just need to refactor the thread for the current website. THat was very early in the forum's life, when it was still D70Users. By changing that reference to dslrusers, and altering the hostname from forum to www, you get http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?t=267 which you will find is valid. hth. g.

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?
I did that already... when I first posted, but I get...
Which is why I appealed to a mod... Anyway, I found another thread which had the buttons to press I now have a working remote for the D7000.
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?Andrew,
Ahhh .... I don't think that you mentioned this aspect (not authorised) earlier; thanks. I just went and saw where the post lies, and there's some political history behind that and where it's now resting. I have no issues in making this thread public again, if you'd like. Just let me know. Sorry. g.

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?So Andrew, can you confirm that it was the Sanyo code 11134?

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?I can; that's what was posted in the thread that Andrew referred to.
Give me a few minutes and I'll make it public. g.

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?
Yes, Phillip. I am able to remotely trigger my D7000. Armed with the knowledge that it was probably 11134 I did another search on the forum and came up with another thread that not only had the code, but had the button sequence. The button sequence is of more value than the code itself.
Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy?
I didn't in my first post in this thread but suggested it in my second (two posts down).

Re: D70 Remote - Where to buy? That is a very practical device with the key ring and all. If only the camera manufacter's thought of including a small hole in their remotes...
