Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I had some time to kill on the weekend whilst my daughter was completing an exam in North Sydney, so with camera in hand I went for a bit of a wander in the area for a couple hours and took some images walking the streets and visiting the markets. This first image was taken in the heart of North Sydney and shows the tower at the top of the North Sydney Post Office in front of one of the new modern glass skyscrapers behind. Old and New  NIKON D7000 + 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 70 mm, 1/160 sec at f / 8.0, ISO 100 I drive to the city many mornings and as you come down the freeway towards the tunnel and bridge you can see the compressed view of the buildings in North Sydney along with the harbour, the harbour bridge and the city behind and I've often thought it would be great to take that photo from this higher vantage. I see this pedestrian overpass which crosses high above the freeway from one side to the other and eyed it off as a potential shooting location. Anyway in my wanderings I found it and took the following images (actually from just next to the walkway). Lead me to the Harbour  NIKON D7000 + 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 100 mm, 1/400 sec at f / 7.1, ISO 100 I was particularly happy with this last image - I hadn't pre-visualised this one whilst driving down the freeway since you don't get to see this view from the road but once I was up there this jumped straight out at me. Opera House in the Suburbs  NIKON D7000 + 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 145 mm, 1/500 sec at f / 7.1, ISO 100 D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro SticksRodney - My Photo BlogWant: Fast Wide (14|20|24)

I love the concept in the last of these, but what's with the vignette? For me, that slightly spoils what is an otherwise wonderful and different view of the SoH.

I love this wildly different view of the Opera House! I enjoy the way it draws my eye around the frame as I'm forced to try and reconcile the image with what my brain thinks it knows about Sydney geography. Imagine the fun that you could have with gullible tourists... I think I also prefer the original version without vignette.
