Channel Swapping....

Postby aim54x on Tue May 17, 2011 10:35 pm

After having a look at my Apocalyptic sunset Revisited post, it intrigued me as to what it would look like if I had a cold, frosty blue look rather than an Apocalyptic red.

Original image....I must get out and shoot another with a Nikon so I can work on a RAW rather than an JPG.

I think it makes for an interesting image, what do you all think?

Would it be worth heading out again with a Nikon so I have a RAW file to use? Any tips as to where to go from here?

I think the first has some potential, i would consider smoothing out the water in teh foreground with some guassian blur or the like. In this format it looks good, the second blue version does very little for me, mainly due to the fact that colour is such stark diversion from reality, whereas the first has some similiarity to a rich sunset.

I like the idea. I would also go with a third colour, green , and make a vertical or horizontal tryptich out of the image. :)

Cameron,

It's a nice composition and I quite like the different iterations. To extend Craig's idea, you could do a quad image with two side by side with different colors. One could be BW.

Also try cropping about 20% from below.

That is an interesting take, I was after a surreal feel to the blue version, I guess it is not for everyone.

That would be an interesting format...I think I will have a play with that idea.

Green + crop + multi-image!

The green suggestion really grew on me!

I like the blue one :D

I like the multi as well, but think that you could have less colours - maybe 3 - 5?

Yeah - or possibly just ditch the lighter of the red ones.
