South Curl Curl 'sunrise'We were there bright and early (@0615!) for another sunrise session today. This was a lesson in sea awareness as I was slightly splashed... Fortunately the promised 4m swell didn't appear in this area perhaps due to the sheltering from the south.
For your comments, criticisms etc etc. What do you think of the composition and tones? Natural tones were muted and it was not easy to make something out of them. I did crop these differently to my original compos in the hope of improving them.
Re: South Curl Curl 'sunrise'Looking very blue and cold...which is was no doubt!
You have captured the movement very nicely in these. I do not like the extent of that rail in #2, it comes in too far and grabs too much attention. However #3 is very nicely done... Hope your camera is ok Cameron

Re: South Curl Curl 'sunrise'wow was my first thought, these are so different to my ones from the morning, its amazing the blue/cooler tones you have nailed, all mine i have corrected the tint and worked against the cooler tones.
onto the critique... composition was difficult at this location and given the unpredictable I think you have done well, the inclusion of the railings does not ring my bell so much and I would be interested in a clone job to see how it adds or detracts from teh composition. The final image is nice, but i follow the lines and get spat out the top corner with nothing to anchor my view, it feels to be missing a element in the composition. All in all i am warming to the cooler tones PS, I am sure your camera will be fine, just an excuse to swap over to the other side gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: South Curl Curl 'sunrise'The first is not really ringing my bell - I like the second however (even with the very obvious protruding railing - and I'm not yet sure whether I would like it gone like Cameron and Gerry or whether I actually like/prefer it in there).
I also like the blue (I've not yet looked at Gerry's). D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: South Curl Curl 'sunrise'I prefer the second and third. I'm not sure
why, but I do.
