[SYD/BM] Echo Point & Three Sisters...

Postby Remorhaz on Thu Jul 07, 2011 9:48 am

I'll be in the Blue Mountains next week and was planning on doing one or two sunset/night-time shoots at Echo Point / the Three Sisters on probably Sunday (10th July) and/or Monday (11th July).

I'm thinking sunset/twilight followed by dinner then some night photography opportunities.

It will be heading towards a full moon (15th) - waxing gibbous - 70% on the 10th and 80% on the 11th.

Sunset is @ 5PM and at that time the moon will be over sublime point (@ 53 degrees alt) and by 10PM will move around behind us and over to the other side past scenic world.

I'm hoping to try long exposure moonlit landscapes, light painting and orbs of light (coloured leds).

Sounds like a meet.
Cameron???
Colin???
Andrew???
Others???

There is restricted parking around Echo Point, but I think it ends at 17:00. I'll double check.

Being a local, I don't really know about restaurants in the area (we eat at home mostly) but I am sure there are plenty to choose from. Monday is often "Restaurant Closed" night though. I'll check on that too.

Would be a good opportunity for some astro stuff considering how clear the skies are atm. It will also be pretty darn cold.

I recommend checking out the falls and doing the Giant stairway walk, its a pretty short one and there are lots of photo ops down there with lots of good water atm.

I'm interested but it is unlikely I could make it. Monday nights I have calls in the middle of the night and then one at 6am Tuesday so I tend to go to bed early. This weekend won't be great anyway due to diving Friday night, going out Saturday night and staying up late Sunday night to watch the F1 from Silverstone.

Very tempted.....I'll have to double check with Katrina to see if I can get a weekend pass.....But Sunday/Monday will not work for me as I have to work on Monday.
