Another D70 Book......

Postby Greg B on Tue Oct 19, 2004 5:03 pm

or

Saw this over at dpreview. It looks pretty good, comes with lots of Photoshop actions.

"DSLR: Nikon™ D70 is a new eBook from authors Peter iNova and Uwe Steinmueller."

According to the quoted press release, it has:-

"Fourteen chapters in two volumes cover the things D70 photographers want and need to know:

Digital photographic technologies
Historical perspectives
Color and optical theory
Basic / intermediate / advanced digital image manipulation
RAW image conversion for the D70 by Uwe Steinmueller
D70 Camera system operation (camera, lenses, flash)
The top 45 D70 photographic problems and their solutions
A 22 exercise self-guided digital photography course
Digital printing
Digital special effects production
35 Vexing questions (advanced problem solving)
iNovaFX Photoshop Actions for the D70 system
Interactive Appendix with live Internet links
Index
D70 Gallery of images from 13 D70 photographers"

It isn't cheap at US$49-95 plus shipping (but apparently with a US$6-50 discount off the postage for dpreview readers), but it does look interesting.

I am half way though Thom's book and it is pretty good. The thing that I liked the look of in this book is the that the book contains lots of hyper links to updated material, actions and sample pictures.

In other words, it seemed more 'high tech' than Thoms book.

I also liked the blurb about 'work arounds for common problems'

Keen to hear what you think

For those of you who prefer a local supplier, the official supplier of the e-books in Australia (as described on inova's site) is Hipper Multimedia in Melbourne(http://www.hipper.com.au)

They have it for pre-order at $80 plus postage

That is where I bought my coolpix v5 ebook.

I had lot of experiences with few local suppliers for a products which they're from many firms in o/s, especially in the States, they said they have local suppliers in our country, but once I rang, they said stock has to be ordered or I have to pre-order. If I go direct and purchase from their parent's website, I'll get:
- Cheaper price from 1/3 to half price than our local quoted.
- Order and paid online, I'll have my order quicker than back or pre-order from our local guys like my previously posts.

My post was intended to show the option for the D70 owners that wish to order the e-book, but prefer to not use, or do not own a credit card.

Louiek,
Please don't get me wrong, I only want to let members know that we can get quicker by direct online if someone's interested and in hurry like me, also expressed my experiences when placing order with local suppliers but they can't fullfill the demand and much variation of our local pricing in comparison with direct online.
