A Country Sunset

A few weeks ago I visited Mark from Trekabout Photography at his property out at Woodford.
I spotted this scene on the drive between Maleny and Woodford and thought at the time that I would head back there sometime and take a pic.

Today, after dropping my daughter to Brisbane airport to get her back to Uni in Melbourne, I decided to head up to Maleny area and find the location for a sunset shot.

Wasn't the best sunset but made do with what I had to work with.

I like your composition and the colours. The road
leads the eye to discover more picture elements
and I love those clouds adding to the sky above
the thin orange at the end of a day, as if the day's
troubles were running into the sunset. Yes, I think
it is a lovely and very serene view and I like it a lot.

There are 3 main aspects to this image which simply weaken it in my opinion.

1) The obvious grad lines, the rolling hills and the grass are not consistent, a little local brightening in post may have helped here. The thin black line on the hill on the left is a quick turnoff for me too.

2) As you aready stated there was not much love in the sunset department, this coupled with the blown yellow and dirty colour on the sunrise means this part of the image cannot hold the rest up, this leads onto the 3 point.

3) The leading lines are nice and well place - for a stunning sunset anyway. However without a sky that says 'wow', my eyes follow the road up to the house? to a vanishing point outta the frame.

I think it could have been made a stronger image by adjusting the composition to include the house as a more prominent element, this could then be coupled with the sun in the left hand side of the frame, you could have your vanishing point and the key elements on the intersection of the thirds and at the very least it would be a textbook composition  PS, don't forget to have look and comment on other peeps images.

Nice leading lines with the track Bob, but overall it's not hitting the spot with me. As Gerry suggests the use of the grad filter is evident and some judicial PP work may help in making it less evident.
