Mona Vale Sunrise - 31 July 2011Big thanks to Gerry who hung around waiting for me despite me sleeping in this morning (I hit the snooze and had my phone on silent). But we made it to witness a spectacular band of colour in the sky which became a very nice sunrise. With no swell, but some nice clouds it was a different kind of sunrise for all of us.
This was taken early on, I thought I could go home after this one Family fishing trip A different view (if only I had an ultra wide...but the Voigtlander 20mm had to suffice) Green Stuff! Cameron

Re: Mona Vale Sunrise - 31 July 2011Nice stuff cameron, I like teh second the best, closely followed by the green stuff.
gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Mona Vale Sunrise - 31 July 2011They're all very nice. At least you didn't have to take a photo of them being swept away by a freak wave.
Re: Mona Vale Sunrise - 31 July 2011Nice capture on the second. If you crop it horizontal, it will still work!
#1 is soft - is the focus off on this one? Perhaps camera shake? #3 is vignette is a bit too much I think. Nice perspective though.
Re: Mona Vale Sunrise - 31 July 2011Hi Cam
Nice catch with #2. I would probably have liked to see more in front of them and less behind but that might have depended on exactly what was there? #1 does look a little soft but that may just be the moving clouds, water and spray which gives the impression because the person does look reasonably defined. Thanks Gerry, great to have seen what it is you do to get that surreal dynamic range.....so glad I looked at what you were doing!
It wouldnt have been an issue that morning...there was little swell, but I do know what you mean, I worry about some of my compatriots when we go out there at times.....*looks at Rodney*
Thanks Suren. #1 was a longish exposure so the person may have shifted slightly, and combined with the motion of the water and clouds it does look a bit soft. #3, the Voigtlander 20mm has a nice vignette normally, so the 10 stop ND stacked on top looks in that light looks to have compounded the effect....
Thanks Rodney....I was thinking of that, but in front of them is no colour......so I opted for the band of colour...... Cameron
