Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

A great (albeit wet) day was enjoyed at the Glenreagh to Dorrigo stage of the WRC. Overcast and wet conditions made for good photography opportunities.

Not long after Sebastian Loeb passed our stage, he rolled his car, unfortunately.

Here's a few images, more to come.

Nice images, Oz.

Keep 'em coming.

But please, tell the drivers that they need to wash their cars occasionally. :)

The first image is the best in this series, it shows movement and the focus is spot on.

Here's another I stumbled across. Henning Solberg from Norway. (Pity the glare but the light was very harsh at this stage.)

Nice shot Chris. Unfortunately, I wasn't ready for Blocky when he came by. I think he crashed into a tree or something so he didn't make it for the second lap, but it was a good day in any case.

Post some more images when you're ready.

This one is quite nice and the timing and composition make up for most of the other downers.

Looks like a good w/e.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

Thanks Ozi for posting these.

There is a mild amount of fuzziness in aomse images which I assume to be due to forum resize or maybe the focus is off?

How did you find the 5D for motorsports...?
How did you keep your equipment away from the dust etc..?

Forum/flickr re-size does demolish sharpness no doubt, but some of the shots aren't that sharp to start with.

surenj wrote:How did you find the 5D for motorsports...?

It definitely is NOT a sports camera. My tiny Panasonic FT2 P&S did a far better job of tracking focus. The 5D may be the ultimate portrait body but fast focussing, it aint. However, it was all I had so I just kept shooting and hoped for the best! Looking back, I should most probably have rented/borrowed a 7D for the day. I have never shot with a 1 series. I would like to one day, but then again, I would most probably want to sell my 5Dii and buy one, which then means more moolah and off we go on the merry-go-round of more gear purchases, which I then have to explain to the missus!!

surenj wrote:How did you keep your equipment away from the dust etc..?

I didn't. It rained for most of the day and therefore there was no dust! Now, as for the mud and water.... :biglaugh: Actually, my gear did get a bit muddy but nothing too bad. The 70-200 ii is weather sealed, and, at least when it was raining, I kept an umbrella over myself as best as I could manage.

Cheers Suren.
