Photo comp - a blatant plug for votesIf you are inclined... Feel free to visit my entry in this photographic competition and click on "vote for me" up the top.
You may vote once a day, for another 2 weeks or so. Yeah, I'm desperate... http://tasmaniart.see.me/atm2011 Share what you know, learn what you don't.

Re: Photo comp - a blatant plug for votesI am seeing this with increasing regularity across forums - soliciting likes, votes, thumbs up etc for images in competitions. Is this ethical?
Adam, i am not by any means trying to tarnish your character here and if you want I can start a new thread on this topic.. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Photo comp - a blatant plug for votesNo, it's cool.
I made the topic title perfectly clear what it was about, so it was entirely discretional for anyone whether or not they bothered looking. I very much doubt my chances anyhow, but thought people might be interested to take a look. If it's against forum rules (which I didn't take the time to read again before posting this) and I am disciplined as a consequence, so be it. If it should be against forum rules, perhaps that's something for another topic to discuss. Share what you know, learn what you don't.

What, you mean you wouldn't have appreciated one of these? I digress.... Share what you know, learn what you don't.

Re: Photo comp - a blatant plug for votes
If you need to ask that question (either from others or to yourself) then it probably is un-ethical. YMMV. I've voted however.... In saying that, if you didn't ask people to vote for you, how would they know to look in that site?
Re: Photo comp - a blatant plug for votes
I think that is the point. I'm happy to be notified like this - whether I then vote for Adam, or vote for someone else, or not vote at all, is up to me. I don't see anything unethical about it. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Photo comp - a blatant plug for votesWhile I'm a bit sheepish to offer it among the talent on this forum, best I can offer is a desktop wallpaper image? I wasn't going to release those (and more to come) images until I had the new website up & running, but it's taking too long...
