A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandHad the pleasure of being allowed into the powerhouse on Cockatoo Island a few weeks ago during a quick visit to Sydney. Any thoughts on this image?
A moment in time..... Thanks My Red Bubble Site: http://www.redbubble.com/people/cathycormack
Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandI like it
Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandI also find this image strangely compelling despite the HDR-ish look it has. I think it's the softness of the tone - regardless this is an image to be happy with

Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandNicely composed!
I would like to see those lightbeams coming through the window. Also suggest to tone down your tonemapping slightly to reduce haloing...
Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandThe halo effect seems quite similar to that obtained by romantic softener filters favoured by many photographers in the film days.
Now, while the sujet isn't exactly my cup of tea I'm curious about this location, the powerhouse. Where on Cockatoo Island did you find this? Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo Island
I agree with Stubbsy....the image holds my attention but I am not sure why. The tones acheived with the post processing work well. Well done. Fuji X-Pro1 | X-E1 | X-T1 | XF14 | XF23 | XF27 | XF35 | XF56 | XF60 | XF10-24 | XF18-55 | XF55-200 | MCEX-11

Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandSo that's where I left them!
The muted colours suit the image and the composition is just about perfect. Regards

Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo IslandIt is certaily unusual, but likeable.
Re: A moment in time - Cockatoo Island
Steffen, at the western end of the island is the old power station, or powerhouse .. we asked one of the people working on th island from parks and wildlife if we could look inside - they let us in and waited around happily whilst we spent nearly half an hour taking some photos.
