Different approach and one that works so well. The one factor that struck me first off was “these do not bore me” so in a word - excellent

#1 Loving this one Ray. The subject and the background suits very well to make a surreal/ fairytale look and feel. I am not feeling that tree on the right and think that you should used a lower viewpoint to get rid of it....

#3 is quite appealing as well. Intuitively though, I reckon the boy needs to face the moon.

have we? i say not

great to see some of your shots from friday night. The long exposure and the resulting cloud movement really gives these some good drama. In the case of the first I would like to see even more exposure on the sky, just to get more of a silhouette on the sculpture.

I like the composition of the second, the nail and moon make nice elements, however i feel the nail gets a bit lost within teh frame, did you wrangle much light out of the foreground in the PP on this one? if not maybe pushing that a bit more may help to make a stronger image. I think that is one image worthy of some more attention.

I like 3 but it needs some straightening.

The skeleton in four I reckon is a great subject, however I am yet to see a composition and treatment that makes me go wow, yours is a step up from some others I have seen so far

Thought the full moon may have offered something different plus was lucky enough to have a strong wind blowing which whilst it made tripod stability an issue, provided some impact with fast moving clouds. It's a challenge to come up with something different for these types of events.

Agree but not a lot of options at the time I visited given the positioning of the moon and the limited access behind the sculpture.

Gave this one a bit more of a squeeze.. As you suggested, it looks better even with the colour cast from the sodium light

Noticed that myself and found that if I straighten the stand the sculpture wouldn't be vertical. Reckoned it is better to have the sculpture vertical.

It's located in an awkward spot right near the stairs so there is a lot of traffic passing around and by it plus it moves in the wind so long exposures are challenging.

Lovely work as usual Ray

#1 - probably my pick of the set - I love what you've done here - I don't mind that tree (it's got great shape) except that it intersects and overlaps some of the sculpture.

#2 - I've got to say I wasn't really a fan of that hole in the sky - it just "looks" wrong somehow - like you painted it in or really blackened everything around it. That said the composition and the way you've used that giant red nail with it is very clever. The rework is nicer (and the hole is less abrupt too)

#3 - noice - love the glow on the statue too - nice touch
