Who needs slide mounts?

Many of our members still have film cameras. And some even use them! This is for film junkies

Who needs slide mounts?

Postby Steffen on Wed Nov 30, 2011 9:57 pm

I have started digitising my slides using a D7000/55 Micro/ES-1 setup and a studio strobe + softbox for illumination. I'm really happy with the results (much better than I had hoped) and will most likely discard the slides once digitised.

Now, parting with old slides that I have now on file is one thing, throwing out 1-2 thousand slide mounts is another. These babies used to cost a fair bit. I only used GePe mounts and mostly the thick double-glazed anti-Newton ones, because my Rollei Twin projector liked those best. I'm not sure I can bring myself to just throw them away, even though they have no practical use for me anymore.

Hence my question, does anyone have a use for them, for whatever purpose? Please let me know soon because they're taking up a fair bit of space and I need to get rid of them. I also have plenty of 50-slot magazines to go with them.

Cheers
Steffen.

I would recommend keeping the slides for archive purposes...an extra line of defence

I know what you mean, Cameron, but I need to free up the space. I'll take really good care of the files, incl multiple Aperture vaults and off-site backup at my parents' place.

Steffen,

What about donating the images to a local museum?

Gary's suggestion works well for me as well!
