Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Roof detailI was checking the pictures I took in China and I came into this one.
It is of the roof details of a building in the Forbiden City. I crop out of the picture unnecessary elements, but I left the picture very much as it came out of the camera i its original JPG format.
Roof detailIt really is incredible at the amount of detail and quality that was crafted with just basic hand tools. It must have taken a long time to do!
Re: Roof detailThanks for the comment. Yes, the Forbidden City was built by
master craftsmen, lots of them. It is not that old because it appears the palace was destroyed by the English during the Opium Wars in retaliation. Also, great treasures were taken by the nationalist troops as they were retreating from the advancing communist army - so you can only imagine how beautiful and extravagant it must have been in its heydays.
