Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Took this at North Head last week and played around with it in Photoshop...

You would not beleive how drab and colourless the original was :D

you've done a great job reproducing the true colours.

Why do you think that the first shot was so drab. Do you have a curve loaded? Were you on Auto WB?

Not sure... it was late afternoon and this was on the ocean side so there was no light on the cliff... I just think it was underexposed and seemed to look, well, drab :)

No custom curve (have not gotten into them yet) and just auto white balance (have not moved from this either).

Great shot....nice colours Woody. Can you tell us any more shooting info?
Lens? Tripod? any EXIF available? The DOF looks good.

Woody! Your pilot got a bit close to the cliff there mate! Who was flying the bloody helicopter...Birddog?

Sorry guys my PC crashed last night and I have spent all day rebuilding it (don't even have capture on here yet!!!)

I will post all the EXIF and PP info when I finsh the re-install.

More then happy to share my techniques (well actually someone elses, I used Virtual Photographer, see Tips and Hints)

Lens = Kit lens
Tripod = Nope (supported the camera with my knees and camera bag)
EXIF = Will post seperatly

As you can see, not much colour and as I said very drab.

Now all I did was use the landscape setting in Virtual Photographer and then a little unsharp mask (sorry forget the settings) and there you have it :lol:

I wish... Would love to go up in a chopper. The most I can brag about is being in a Russian MIG :lol: I did get to fly it though, did a few rolls, called my pilot "Goose" all the usual things :lol:

STRUTH.....thanks I'll be looking at VP for sure. Not sure what it costs, but at this stage I don't want to outlay for Photoshop. (drather put it into better glass)
It seems little by little 'smaller' (and cheaper) on line programs are going to be very helpful.

Well after you have Photoshop, Virtual Photographer is free :D

But you do need Photoshop as it is a plug in.
