Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

I decided to take a trip up to the Dandenong Ranges today as I'd read about this place called Grant's Picnic Ground. Apparently you can get close to the birds. Well they were right! I had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back. Kipper...that 70-200VR would be perfect. I was using my 80-400VR.

Nicole

Geart sharpness, colour and composition. I want a VR lens.

Nicole,

That's a really nice image...

For future reference, I'd probably prefer to have seen slightly more of the bird, or failing that, slightly less bokeh at the top and more of the lower half of the bird...

One day I'll have to get one of those VR thingies...
Cheers, John

Great shot! Maybe a slightly tighter crop will add impact?

Thanks for the comments. I agree about showing more of the bird. I have another shot I took that shows more of the bird. Hope you guys don't mind all these birds...

Hi Nicole,

Wow. Nice sharp pic you got there. Looks like 80 - 400 is a very sharp lens for a zoom.

cheers,

Arthur

Nicole - well done. Tremendous colour and sharpness. More birds the better, and they do not have to be feathered  .
