Hi Cameron,

#2 has a nice desolated feel to it but I think it's still missing an element. The small people in the background adds a little to keep the viewer interested.... It might be a great place for an environmental portrait or something....

#4 is a great concept. Have you missed the focus? I can't get past the fact it's soft. btw Did you see that someone was was doing a 'cellphone illuminated face' series. This looks slightly similar.

Hi Cam,

I like #4 the best - agree it's soft but actually I don't mind it in this shot (which is saying something for me since I normally really don't like soft images - at least where the/a subject isn't sharp) - so I guess for me it's the composition thats winning me over :)

Thanks guys, with #4 I probably missed the focus as I was shooting from the hip with a manual focus lens in very low light, the ISO wouldnt have helped either. But I really liked the capture so I posted it for comments.

There are many reasons why number 4 is the pick, including the receding window, lighting, exposure, overall composition.

Yes, at times I will use hyperfocal (fairly easy with this and the 20mm Voigtlander) but also using the focus markings and guessing the range (using the camera as a rangefinder in the most basic sense)
