Making the most of it

hi all,

Had an incredibly bad day at work yesterday so thought I would make the most of it by taking some shots at Victoria Park which is across the road from me. Here are a few I really like. Trying to experiment with lighting not sure if these are too red/dark and need blowing up a bit?

That first one is fantastic. Love the ghostlike figure. If it was intentional to go for that ghostly effect, brilliant work. If it was an accident...brilliant work ! Maybe even try a mono of the first.

Not feeling the second much.

very clever and I did not even see that figue there the first glance...

The second looks heaps better with some extra brightness just to give the viewer a clue whats going on!

So... the million dollar question.
Did you put the ghostly figure in the image on purpose (and if so, how), and if it was a fluke, how did it happen (or did you shoot at 1/250 and it's actually a ghost).

Thanks for the feedback.

The first shot is actually part of my self portrait collection that I am doing (vain much right?) so it was intentional (and me). its shot at a 30 sec exposrue at about f14 if memory serves - so basically a press and dash job. I had to do a few takes to get enough of me there to be just visivle - about a 15sec timing for that.

I've often tried to capture the ghosts i see in my head but they keep disappearing from my frame !

I like the first but suggest a dark monochrome conversion. This will reduce the distraction of some of the greenery. A copper or sepia tone may revive the current look you have.

For the second, convert it to a photogravure. :D

I think you can make the most of this shot. Perhaps some more processing etc to accentuate what you wanted to convey; mystery, horror etc..

This might give you some ideas. Let me know if you want it removed.

Thanks for the Edit Suren, had a go at one my self - more of a Sepia tone. I was going for the surreal or the hidden something there and not so thought I'd go the opposite and actually lighten it up a bit but not sure if it works

The crop gets rid of the mystery and essence of the image IMO. You don't want the eye drawn to the figure immediately. It needs to be a surprise. I like the mono conversion but I'm not sold on it being that dark.
