Photoshop workshop

Gary mentioned to me in passing that it had been awhile since the forum had held a Photoshop workshop. So here's the proposal...if there is sufficient interest from new members who have not previously attended one of these workshops, and if someone can offer a venue, with a laptop computer, (I don't own one), a projector and Photoshop7 or better loaded up, (I could perhaps provide a temporary copy for this), then I will run a 3.5 hour tutorial/workshop. For those who are not aware of my background I have been teaching digital photography for around 10 years using Photoshop as the main image processing software. The tutorial would be a comprehensive introduction to all of the tools in the program and a demonstration of how that tool is used. A supply of coffee during the tutorial would be the inducement for me to give up my time. If you are interested then please register your interest in this post with a preferred day, (Sat or Sun). There will be no cost for the workshop. At this stage I am simply canvassing for numbers.The ideal number of attendees would be 7 or 8. I expect the workshop could be held sometime late March or in April.

Alicia has a super 8 Yashica projector for use. Silent operation, apparently.

I am no good for a projector, however I can certainly supply a half decent coffee for you, prolly a local cafe one but hey, i will give some guarantees..

If anyone has access to Sydney or UNSW Uni conference rooms, then this would be a nice sterile location.

I can bring in a Nespresso with pods for people needing more than one takeaway coffee.....

although I don't actually use Photoshop very often (I desperately try to do everything in Lightroom if I can and reluctantly venture outside only when I absolutely must). I know enough to be very dangerous

I can bring laptop (the new 17" MBP with SSD/Core i7/8GB RAM) along with the apple DisplayPort to VGA or DVI cables. No can do projector or coffee sorry.

No get to take photos. It takes 3.5 hours to demonstrate all of the tools and how they work. The program is that big....and I don't even cover half of its functionality in that time. For instance, its graphic arts tools or its medical imagery analysis tools.

All...I would prefer Windows platform on laptop and version CS3 (which I could bring along if required).

I am still an USYD student - I can check on whether it is possible to get access to a lecture theatre or something at the uni on a weekend. I am presuming this is happening on a weekend?

Alternatively I am not sure what kind of a set we need space wise - there are study rooms in Fisher library that we can use and I'll check into whether we can book one of the meeting rooms in the Sci-Tech library which is considerably nicer.

We don't need a large area as I don't think we'll get more than 10 bodies. Small area is friendlier. It would be done on a weekend unless the majority preferred some other day.
