EL Wire...

Postby Remorhaz on Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:26 pm

Mostly for Gerry/Suren/Cam but others may also be interested.

A couple of days ago I ordered (from eBay) some EL Wire along with the EL driver/battery pack (4 x AAA) (can drive up to 6m EL wire) with a function selection (Continuous On, Strobe, Fast Flash, Slow Blink) and a separate on/off switch plus a 5 way splitter and 6 separate 1m EL wires in different colours (5 of them in 3.2mm (Aqua, Lime Green, Purple, Red and Turquoise) and one in 1.4mm (Blue) to see/try difference) all with connectors attached, etc so ready to go. This cost just under $40 delivered from the UK.

I was fully expecting this to take perhaps a couple of weeks to arrive but it was all in the mailbox today - tried it out and all appears to work - I've got no experience with EL wire so not sure how bright/robust/etc it's supposed to be - light painting anyone?

Hey Rodney, I am keen.

1meter length for each wire may be a little too short depending on the application...

Yep - I'll probably order some 3m lengths next time - the driver I have should be able to drive one or two of those

This is timely as I'm also looking at some of this... if it were Saturday night I'd be keen if we could do something over my way.
Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
