Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Mine arrived yesterday via ECS in Sydney. Very happy so far, looking forward to some play time over the weekend
D4, D700, plus glass from 14mm to 200mm
Gaffa Tape is like the FORCE... it has a Light side, a Dark side and it holds the universe together
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Hi Jonesy thanks for the reply i wonder if you are able to shoot a couple of pics at a bit of range in a low light senario at say 12500 iso or 25000 iso I am very keen to see noise improvement over my D3s at these ettings-I shoot horses indoor but any odject at 15meters rang in low light will do.
What is you main subject-use for the D4 cheers JIm
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??not sure if you have seen this jim

Re: Any one got a D4 yet??tHANKS rOOZ BUT STILL NOT MUCH GOOD--show ME THE NOISE
They dont say how they evaluate abd the D3s scores bettrer in iso cheers jim Gary indicated one of the profile Sydney Togs was getting 1-2 stops improvement on the D3s
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??
2 stops improvement ? not a chance in hell. i dont even think its a stop, but you do get more resolution. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/studio- ... eraCount=0 http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikond4pro/ EM1 l 7.5 l 12-40 l 14 l 17 l 25 l 45 l 60 l 75 l AW1 l V3
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??
So, according to Thom, the expectation is for very little improvement in high-range ISO over the D3s with the advantages of the D4 coming in other areas. Real world experience may qualify this view of course so it will be interesting to hear it.
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??HI Thanks for that Murray at the moment i use my D3s in crop mode to increase lens flexability so the extra MP and 1.2 as well as 1.5 crop will be usefull
cheers jim
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Hi Jim
I've never used mine in crop mode, well I did try it but the small viewfinder image put me off immediately. I think it makes much more sense to shoot full frame and crop down as required. In those terms you might also consider downsizing with the D800 because the D3s, D4 and D800 appear to have similar sensor capabilities just targeted in different ways. At this stage I'm sceptical that there is significant cause to want to upgrade from the D3s just for low light performance coupled with increased resolution. After all, there is only a 15% increase in effective resolution to the D4.
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??I also notice that AF is critical in low light-low contrast situations and the D4 is supposed to be better in this regard
My D3s is due for replacement so I only have D4 or another D3s to consider D800--nill stock cheers jim I have asked NPS to see if they can help me regards stock so we will see next week what transpires
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Hi Jonsey
Any pics to share from the D4? cheers jim
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??I've done some tests with mine.
1 stop, if that, is how I see it. The AF is killer however Nikons.
Nikkor's.
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Here's one from tonight. My very spoilt dog.
ISO 2000 17/35 @35 f2.8 1/40, no flash, no pp just crop. exif should be intact. Nikons.

Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Hi Sylvia thaks for the input i picked up mine today so im in at the deep end now
Im hoping for a renge of benefits over the D3s none that large but improvements anyway cheers jim
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Howdi Jim,
Mate its not deep, its just different. Overall I feel the D4 is an incremental improvement over the D3s, revolutionary it's not despite the hype. Its a fine tune of a very good system. I still use my D3 Nikons.

Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Sylvia yes i agree so far at least
When I photograph horses indoor i find i get some stunning images and some that the fine detail is just terrible And I believe this is in no small way linked to focus in low light and with low contrast subjects This is an area i am hoping for some improvement And as stated previously im keen to acheive reduced noise at 12800 or even 25000iso Prior to the D3s this would have been a dream-cheers jim
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Howdi Jim,
Equestrian in low light eh.... I have a bunch but prefer the good old outdoor option. Its hard enough in good light, let alone indoor. D3 and 200/2 from memory Edit: I should add, the D4 focus accusation in low light is much improved. But I am still fussy with my output. If I have to go to 8000 with my D4 I loose interest real quick. Nikons.

Re: Any one got a D4 yet??The results can still be good but you have to work hard to get it and if i go home when the numbers go above 8000iso there may be a riot as some spend $9000 to get horses to a national championship and want pics cheers jim
Re: Any one got a D4 yet??Howdi Jim,
I have used the good, old, and trusty D3 for alot of events and found the 3s was much, much better. I know from testing, the D4 will be better again, but only by a stop "at best". Its focus acquisition however is much improved. I'm looking forward to pushing it in a real world test. For indoor I use a 200/2 or 300/2.8, the 200 wins every time. Its a light thief. . And there in lies the solution. Here's one under lights from CDI-2010 from memory and iso4500. The D3 was struggling big time from here on.. As for the cost of this sport, lets say you are talking to the informed. Nikons.

Re: Any one got a D4 yet??hi Yes it seems you ended where i was headed--I borrowed a 200f2 in December for EA National Championships in Werribee
and was vey impressed My current thoughts are to invest in the body with the hope of avoiding the committment to a 200mm F2 which i would probably only use indoors--time will tell - If i could hire a 200mm F2 problem solved-cheers jim
