It's time that we had a get together to chat, show n tell equipment, photographic prints and maybe swap and sell that camera gear we no longer need. At this stage it's planned for the 2nd week in April and I'm looking for expressions of interest and maybe a show of hands on an evening dinner or late afternoon BBQ lunch or counter lunch. I'm thinking maybe a counter lunch at the Blues Point hotel, North Sydney, then wander down to Blues Point for a late afternoon and evening shoot across the harbour. We could do some long-range photography workshops for those who are interested. This event is open to ALL members of the forum, so if you have never been to one of our meets then now is your chance. Come along, meet the gang, make new friends and widen your horizons. Respond with your likely attendance, ideas and the preference for a Saturday or Sunday. Regards
Matt. K
Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQI'm interested. I'd prefer a lunch on Sunday - if it is going to be so far away.

Happy to pencil in the date but gee... is it alright if I aspire toward slimming my horizon??? Feeling quite wide enough as it is Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQGreg
I think Easter this year falls on the 7,8, and 9th April. So the following week would be for the meet. That's 14th or 15th. Seems like Sunday is the popular date so far. Regards

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQ
OK then count me in. Pam hasn't got anything on the calendar yet so I think its clear. Either day suits for me so happy to go with the consensus Sunday What's the parking like down there on a weekend? Greg

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQHmm. The Blues Point Hotel Bistro is closed 15:00 - 18:00 so it would have to be an normal (not late) lunch or early dinner.

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQGreg
Thanks for that. There are a number of small delightful sidewalk restaurants along Blues Point road. They sell pizza, pasta etc....and a glass of wine. Perhaps we could partake of one of those at around 1500hr, then a leisurely walk down to the point for some photography. Or a quick drive for those with heavy tripods. It’s about 400 metres down to the grassy knoll, and a very scenic view of the city and bridge. We could shoot as the light changes to night, so lots of long focal length lenses, 2X convertors and tripods. For those who don’t live in the mountains….bring a light jacket. Anyone have any other ideas? Better ideas, that is? Regards

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQI'd like to vote against the Easter weekend. For me long weekends are one time I'll avoid the trip from Newcastle to Sydney (because many others are travelling - including leaving Sydney). So I feel it's a bad time for me and possibly for many Sydney members who've left town for the 4 days.

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQSunday the 15th of April at 3.30 pm. Location Blues Point road, North Sydney. There are 3 or 4 small restaurants with tables on the footpath just down from the Blues Point Post Office. About 200 metres down the hill from Blues Point Hotel. Hope this suits the majority. That's the week after the Easter long weekend.

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQVery nice images Gerry - that second is spectacular with the bigstopper - I only wish I'd gotten around towards sunset in time (to use the heavy ND) - instead of waiting for my other away from sunset shot to finish . Whats the very dark area on the bottom left - seems a little strange?

well, i never would have normally taken a long lens to the SHB but i think i can consider my horizons widened - since it was about some long range action a few i took whilst there was enough light. this dude looks like a old 'mister T' go you little yellow thing, you can do it. and the obligatory SHB pano gerry's photography journey

Re: DSLRUsers forum' all members' dinner/BBQ
the shot was super underexposed, i should have let it go for teh full 6 minutes, hence that is one dark area (due to the dark clouds up top) which was never gonna get recovered. gerry's photography journey
