A sure cure for insomnia - Processing Star trailsso, if ya don't fall alseep actually taking the required amounts of images at nighttime, then the sheer processing and mind numbing effort required to go to clean them up will put you to sleep, well it did for me, twice..
version one of the the recent trails session with Rodney. There is much to be improved on in this case and i think revisting it to address a few issues will make for a stronger image. I am not keen on the sharp halo around teh pylon, this is exacerbated by downsize and compression, additionally i think my trails have been a bit lost in the sky, they need some more oommph to give them more impact. MattK when are you runnign your PS workshop - i need a lesson.. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

it has the wonderful perception of looking down a tunnel. I am surprised that you get so much of an image in a city, with all the surrounding light. Philip
Re: A sure cure for insomnia - Processing Star trails
Philip, the trails have actually been dimmed down a bit! i felt having the trails being a bit muted to fit with the city light pollution sat better in my head - but yes there is lots of star data out there even in the city, you just gotta blow out all the city lights. gerry's photography journey

Re: A sure cure for insomnia - Processing Star trailsMy humble opinion is that it could do well with a darker overall feel (e.g. probably darker just about everywhere except maybe the bridge). The shot has too much of a shot during the day feel which in my mind seems wrong with the stars.
And yes I agree - we could both do with that PS lesson in planning - specifically how to do better layer processing (adjustments) and blending (compositingish) of multiple image layers. D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks
