Where was that sunrise at Manly...Well... it was grey and not particularly inspiring - not even the rocks when we headed around the headland at Shelly Beach at Manly...
My version of the Rocks in the Mist with a just before sunrise longer exposure This was probably the best channel for some interesting images - here with a half second exposure for some interesting water movement As you can see with the above image and the one below we did get a second chance sunrise with some god rays after sunrise - Suren and I switched to telephotos for some more detailed landscaping The rest, well, there wasn't much to write home about - I tried to capture the textures of the landscape strewn with large boulders and wind and water worn sandstone on the coastline - it's not quite there I don't think - but you can play a game of "Where's Gerry" if you like D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Where was that sunrise at Manly...I don't mind teh first two. The first is a composite i guess... i think feathering that light and dark area would make it more pleasing and natural for me.
The second would be the pick of the bunch, but it just feels like ARAS (another rock another sky) but that could just be the phase i am going thru.
on the very top cliff with my arse hanging out... look closer if you can't see it gerry ftw. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Where was that sunrise at Manly...
It's actually a single RAW - but I had the grad diagonally and didn't manage the pp all that well with it - I've had a slightly more careful go at it
Thanks - me too
Actually in #1 I believe that may be you up on the cliff far top right? - however I was thinking more in the monochrome... D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Where was that sunrise at Manly...Although I am not a painter, I think that the crappy light conditions that prevailed brings within the realm of boring old rock syndrome. [BORS] I agree with hitting delete; a number of times.
