I like the simplicity of this image although I find the background a touch dark. Peter

My wife said the same thing, so you are correct. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Towards the lightNice lighting on the flower head which needs some more room above. The lighting on the stem however does not seem to gel as well.

Re: Towards the lightI feel the photo needs more space (margin) on
top of the flower and perhaps you could cut a bit of the bottom. Also I am not sure of the colour background.
Re: Towards the lightYep, things seem to become a bit darker when reproduced here.
I am going to try to lighten the background and improve the stems. I'm not sure that I want to do anything with the top of the bulb. My vision for the image was always to have the flower close to the edge and close to the top, with all the negative space at the bottom. Thanks for taking the time to critique. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Towards the lightimo, the bottom part with the OOF stalk and the majority of teh shadow needs to be cropped. The harsh shadow does not match teh almost studio feel.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Towards the lightI've followed a couple of the suggestions in the hope of improving the image.

Re: Towards the lightTrevor, are you going for a deer in headlight type of light? it looks a little direct for my liking. Almost reminds me of a fashion type of direct light look with a ring light up close.
