RIP Malcolm Browne

Postby sirhc55 on Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:47 am

For those too young to remember Malcolm, he was the photographer who captured the self immolation of the monk Thich Quang Duc in Saigon in 1964. This photograph set in motion the US involvement in the Vietnamese war.

Died at the age of 81 from Parkinson’s.

Vale Malcolm Browne.

One of the most impactful photos I have every seen on so many levels.
Regards, Patrick

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

being young is not an excuse  . This image featured on the Rage Against the Machine album in the early 90s and for me anyway, certainly brought about awareness of the issues and later on the photographer.

RIP Malcolm Browne.
